The installation’s long-standing tradition of opening the post’s 121 cemeteries to the public annually was rescheduled from May 2024 to September 1,2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, it was postponed in May due to inclement weather. Fort Knox will open several access points around the installation perimeter, welcoming visitors who wish to pay respects to friends and family member interred here. A valid driver’s license or ID and visitor’s pass will be required at all gates, along with a contact phone number for emergencies. Officials remind visitors that all vehicles are subject to search upon entry. Prohibited items include: firearms, alcohol, non-prescription drugs or glass containers of any kind, digging tools and metal detectors. Removal of artifacts is strictly prohibited. representatives of the Cultural Resources Office will be available at the Fort Knox Visitor’s Center during visitation hours to provide additional information on cemetery and access point locations and answer questions.
